Physiotherapists are experts on how your body moves and what stops it from moving. As movement specialists, physiotherapists use a hands-on approach to help you restore, maximize and maintain your movement for the rest of your life.
Massage therapy is a comprehensive intervention involving a range of techniques to manipulate the soft tissues and joints of the body. The purpose of massage therapy is to prevent, develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function or relieve pain.
Pelvic Floor aka Pelvic Health Physiotherapy is the assessment and treatment of various conditions that involve the pelvic floor or symptoms that manifest in this area. The pelvic floor includes muscles, ligaments, nerves and connective tissue. It plays an important role in the body by providing support for the bladder, genitals, uterus and anus.
Vertigo, Dizziness, Vestibular & Concussion rehabilitation uses hands-on, exercise-based treatment and maneuvers designed by a specialized physical therapist, to improve balance and reduce dizziness-related problems.
Shockwaves effectively accelerate the healing process in the body. It stimulates the metabolism and improves blood circulation so damaged tissue can regenerate and fully heal. It can also break down scar tissue and calcifications. Shockwave Therapy is an acoustic pressure wave, not electric shock.
Laser Therapy is a safe, painless, and effective treatment approach for a wide range of medical conditions to increase the rate of wound healing, reduce inflammation and swelling, reduce pain and help alleviate a variety of musculo-skeletal problems acute and chronic.
Acupuncture is an ancient form of Chinese medicine involving the insertion of solid filiform acupuncture needles into the skin at specific points on the body to achieve a therapeutic effect.
Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) also known as Dry Needling is a total system for the diagnosis and treatment of myofascial pain syndromes (chronic pain conditions of the musculoskeletal system). This technique involves the use of acupuncture needles that penetrate the trigger points within the muscles without injecting any substance and facilitates their release.
Myofascial release (or MFR) is a soft tissue therapy for the treatment of skeletal muscle immobility and pain. This alternative medicine therapy aims to relax contracted muscles, improve blood and lymphatic circulation, and stimulate the stretch reflex in muscles.
Active release techniques (ART) is a soft tissue system/movement-based technique developed and patented by P. Michael Leahy. It treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves.
CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on approach that releases tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole-body health and performance. Using a soft touch, which is generally no greater than 5 grams – about the weight of a nickel – practitioners release restrictions in the soft tissues and spinal fluid that surround the central nervous system.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) Therapy is a gentle manual treatment technique performed by a Certified Lymphedema Therapist that improves the activity of the lymph vessels by applying a light mechanical stretch on the walls which increase lymph flow.

For many Canadians, health insurance providers cover all cost or a portion of the cost of physiotherapy and massage care. Some extended health insurance plans may require a physician’s referral in order to reimburse you for physiotherapist or massage service, but it’s not always necessary. Call your health insurance provider to confirm your level of coverage beforehand and to determine whether or not you require a physician referral for reimbursement.
